Workshop on Autism Offered Free to Parents

A free parent workshop entitled “Understanding Autism” will be presented on Tuesday, March 4 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Rochester City School District’s Parent Center, 30 Hart Street, Room 126. The workshop is presented by the District’s Department of Parent & Community Involvement.

      The workshop will focus on ways adults can support their children’s academic success and their transition to life after high school. Discussed will be the use of “social stories,” visual schedules, picture cues, and other strategies for supporting children in pre-K though grade 12.

The workshop will benefit all caregivers of children at all points on the autism disorder spectrum including autism, pervasive developmental disorder, and Asperger’s Syndrome.
