The Rochester City School District is investigating allegations that a teacher used derogatory language toward students last week.

The District’s Human Resources Department is investigating the allegations in conjunction with the administration at Wilson Commencement Academy, where the situation reportedly occurred. Upon conclusion of the investigation, appropriate action will be taken in accordance with District policy and collective bargaining agreements. Because the matter involves a personnel issue, the District cannot disclose those actions upon conclusion of the investigation.

“We expect all employees to contribute to a climate of mutual respect in our schools and to uphold the dignity of all students,” said Rochester Superintendent of Schools Jean-Claude Brizard. “We will not waver from that expectation.”
