MISSION

To provide minority and women owned business enterprises with equal opportunity to participate in all aspects of the Rochester City School District’s contracting and purchasing programs.

OBJECTIVE STATEMENT

The Rochester City School District recognizes procurement as a strategic function that adds value to our organization and is committed to providing minority and women-owned business enterprises with the opportunity for equitable participation in the District’s contracting and purchasing programs.  The District will work to improve the overall organizational efficiency, effectiveness, and responsiveness by assisting in the growth and sustainability of minority and women-owned businesses.  The Office of Minority and Women-owned Business Development will assist minority and women-owned businesses through outreach activities, education and training as well as promoting the utilization of these businesses among District departments, academic units, and prime contractors.

The following objectives have been established to ensure the equitable participation of minority and women-owned businesses in the District’s contracting and purchasing programs:

  • Promote minority and women-owned business participation in District contracting and purchasing programs;
  • Review and analyze all District contract opportunities (i.e. Request for Proposals, Request for Bids, Request for Qualifications) to ensure compliance with minority and women-owned business utilization goals for District, state and federal programs;
  • Provide guidance to District departments in establishing, maintaining, and monitoring performance against goals and objectives of minority and women-owned business utilization; and
  • Enhance the educational experience of District students by presenting opportunities for students to interact with minority and women-owned businesses and owners to better understand the role these businesses play in our local economy, government, and community.
